Project Development Tools 

The following tools will help you make effective progress while working with your team. 

BaseCamp: BaseCamp is a free platform for project management and team communication. 

ClickUp: ClickUp is a free platform for managing projects and setting goals. Assign tasks to your team members, communicate and collaborate remotely, track milestones, and more.  

Roam: Roam is an online note-taking platform. Tag and track your ideas, create to do lists, and start building your own database of ideas.  

Trello: Trello is a free platform that uses a Kanban style of task list organization for your project plans.

 

Drawing Resources 

The following tools will help you develop visuals for your product design: 

Adobe Suite: Adobe offers a suite of programs that allow you to generate beautiful digital work. They offer discounts for students, as well as a 14-day free trial. There are plenty of tutorials available online, however the functionality for these programs is so extensive that it takes a lot of time to be truly comfortable and acquainted with them. 

AutoDraw: Google’s free platform for drawing online. This tool uses machine learning to suggest results based on your quick sketch.

Blender: Blender is a free software that can help you create 3D models and designs.  

Canva: Canva is a free platform that can be used for design of websites, apps, social media posts, presentations, and more. Free templates are available to help you get started.

Fiverr: Fiverr is a platform that connects you to freelancers. Signing up for an account is free. The freelancers are hired for their work, and you can select who you want to work with based on their proposal and past work.

KeyShot: KeyShot is a software that can help you create 3D models and designs. 

Procreate: Procreate is an app developed for iPads. It is also available for iPhones and Androids. It’s offered for $9.99 in the app store, and it’s great for digital painting and sketching. 

SketchPad: Sketchpad is a free digital sketching platform. Draw freeform with different pens and colors, or use basic shapes to create your image. 

SketchUp: This is a 3D design tool. They have a free web-based platform, but they’re also offering a 30-day free trial of their more advanced app. 

UpWork: UpWork is a platform that connects you to freelancers. Signing up for an account is free. The freelancers are hired for their work – either with a fixed fee or an hourly rate – and you can select who you want to work with based on their proposal and past work.

 

Brainstorming Resources

The following tools will help you record your brainstorms and other idea generation exercises: 

Miro: Miro is a free online software that’s almost like a digital whiteboard. Your whole team can collaborate on the same board, so it’s perfect for remote brainstorming. You can create mind maps, a kanban board, and post-it notes. You can create tables or charts. It has other meeting features such as a timer, team chat, and voting capabilities. 

XMind: XMind is a great tool for building mind maps. They offer a free version that you can download and try out. It comes with several templates and data views to help you

IDEO:  IDEO offers resources for innovative thinking and unlocking creative ideas.

IBM Design Thinking: Check out the IBM Design Thinking courses for a more detailed look at innovation strategies. 

NessLabs: Ness Labs offers a variety of interesting articles related to neuroscience. They cover topics such as idea generation, creative thinking, tools for learning, productivity, and more. 

Sprint Stories: Examples and case studies from companies or teams that have followed the Google Ventures Sprint process.

 

Digital Prototypes 

The following tools will help you develop mockups of app or website ideas:

Figma: Figma is a free tool for individuals, but there are paid versions for organizations. This service allows you to create beautiful front-end designs for apps and websites. Test out how users will interact with your design without having to do any coding. 

Marvel App: Marvel App (unrelated to Marvel Comics as far as we know) is another great platform for quick prototyping. Build easy mockups of an app or webpage. Test out how users will interact with your design without having to do any coding. 

Sketch: Sketch is a desktop app that helps you build digital prototypes. It’s designed for easy handoff to developers when you’re ready to write the code to bring your front-end design to life.

 

Presentation Tools

FOR THE JEFFERSON HEALTH HACK YOU MUST BUILD YOUR PRESENTATION IN GOOGLE SLIDES!!!

Google Slides: Google Slides is available for free with any GMail account. Their web-based software is easy to use and it’s great for multiple team members to be able to view and edit the same doc at the same time. They offer free templates for various designs to help give you a head start on formatting.
